Stevie Wonder - "That Girl"
from the album Original Musiquarium Vol. I & II (1982)
Billboard
Hot 100 peak: #4 (3 weeks)

"That Girl" was the first single from Wonder's greatest hits double-album that compiles Wonder's most innovative and creatively successful period between 1972 and 1982, with such classics as "I Wish" and "Living For The City". The song was a welcome return to the synth-funk he excelled at (I wasn't all too keen over the reggae rehash of "Master Blaster"). The bassline on this track kills, and it's a shame that after this album he succumbed to a period of schmaltz and cheese exemplified by "I Just Called To Say I Love You" and "Part Time Lover".

The rhythm track and harmonica later on would be interpolated into rapper 2Pac's #44 single "So Many Tears" in 1995...
