Quincy Jones featuring James Ingram - "One Hundred Ways"
from the album The Dude (1981)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #14 (one week)

Veteran producer and jazz performer Quincy Jones broke out into the Quiet Storm/AC genre with his slick Grammy-winning album The Dude. Half of his six top-40 pop hits came from the album, including the funky first single "Ai No Corrida", and two featuring the debut of smooth R&B singer James Ingram. His contributions would help the album win the Grammy for R&B performance with vocals in 1981, and "One Hundred Ways" would be a keystone of adult contemporary R&B in the early 80's. It was a rare romantic-style tune sung from the point of view of a guy to another guy giving tips on how to keep his lady.

Ingram would go on to have a string of duet hits with various performers before hitting the #1 spot solo on "I Don't Have The Heart"in 1990.

Tomorrow: fodder for prank callers everywhere.
