" Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See " - Busta Rhymes from the album When Disaster Strikes (1997) Billboard Hot 100 peak: ineligible to chart Billboard Hot 100 Airplay peak: #37 (one week) Weeks in the Airplay Top-40: 4   Today's song of the day comes from rapper Busta Rhymes , who landed a top ten pop hit in the spring of 1996 with his debut solo single " Woo-Hah!! Got You All In Check ". A year later, he returned with the lead track promoted to radio from his sophomore effort, When Disaster Strikes . "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See", written by the rapper over a sample of the 70s "yacht-rock" deep cut " Sweet Green Fields " from Seals and Crofts (of "Summer Breeze" fame), was more about attitude than lyrical content, as Busta assesses compatibility in real time to see if (you) are good enough for a "good time". But besides the entrancing beat and genius use of the sample, the record was way mor...

The lead single from the record was "They Like It Slow", which featured a little (uncredited) help from funk veteran Roger Troutman. Written by the group with Dino producing, the song marked a departure from their previous albums on Luke Campbell (of 2 Live Crew)'s label, giving attention this time to a woman's needs, albeit meaning in bed. Born in Florida, Mase moved to New York as a child, where he grew up and eventually came under the wing of sometimes rapper and always mogul Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, for whom he joined the Bad Boy record label. Mase had already appeared on three major pop/R&B hits in 1997; Puff Daddy's #1 hit " Can't Nobody Hold Me Down ", Brian McKnight's " You Should Be Mine ", and most notably, the late Notorious B.I.G.'s #1 hit " Mo Money Mo Problems ", where his verses were more memorable than either Puff's or Biggie's. With all that exposure, it was a sure thing when he released his own debut single "Feels So Good". With an uncredited vocal on th...
