Twostepcub's music chart for May 18, 2024...

Saturday's here, and it's time to run down my top "hit" tunes from the week. Ariana Grande climbs to #1, while Hozier (pictured above) leaps into the top five. Songs from Godsmack, Bailey Zimmerman, and Lenny Kravitz make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red), while former big hits from Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Black Crowes, Shinedown, Papa Roach, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor drop out. Happy birthday, sis!

Taylor Swift lays claim to the top debut of the week at #52 with "Fortnight", the lead single from her record-setting double-album The Tortured Poets Department, which saw all 31 of its tracks chart on Billboard magazine's Hot 100 a couple weeks ago. This song features backing vocals from Post Malone...

As Teddy Swims' breakthrough single, the former #1 "Lose Control", remains in my top ten, his new song "The Doors" swings open at #68. Both are from his debut album I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1)...

The second single from grunge-rock veterans Pearl Jam's Dark Matter album, "Wreckage", crashes in at #73. The title track is still in my top-40 at #21...

Quakertown, Pennsylvania-born Sabrina Carpenter checks in at #75 with her one-off single "Espresso", which has already made the Hot 100 top ten. Like Taylor, Teddy, and Pearl Jam, she also has a second song on my list with "Feather" at #17...

DJ/producer John Summit returns at #84 with "Shiver", featuring vocals by Hayla, who also sang on his last time on my chart, "Where You Are", last year...

Country critic darlings Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton collaborate at #86 for "We Don't Fight Anymore". The song will appear on Pearce's upcoming fourth album Hummingbird...

Kylie's younger sister Dannii Minogue dances her way in at #97 with her single with Australia DJ/producer Autone, "Thinking 'Bout Us"...

The (grand)father of new jack swing, Keith Sweat, is back at #98 with his latest slow jam effort "Lay You Down"...

The final newbie of the week at #100 is from neo-metal band Five Finger Death Punch, resurrect a 2022 album track "Judgement Day" with a "mashup" with parts of the late rapper DMX's song "The Way It's Gonna Be" for "This Is The Way"...
