"Something Like That" - Tim McGraw
from the album A Place In The Sun (1999)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #28 (three weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's song comes from country music star Tim McGraw, who's fifth studio album A Place In The Sun had already him a second top ten crossover hit on Billboard magazine's Hot 100 chart in the spring of 1999 with "Please Remember Me".  The second single from the record was the mid-tempo "Something Like That". Written by Keith Follese and Rick Ferrell, Tim reminisces about a girl from his youth than caught his eye, and an unlikely reunion in the sky later on. It's got a heaping helping of "hillbilly charm", with a simple plot and back-and-forth rhythms that does its job, nothing more. For the music video, instead of filming the plot in the lyrics, it just has Tim live in concert...

"Something Like That" became Tim's lucky seventh top-40 crossover hit on the Hot 100 in September of 1999. The song spent a hefty five weeks at #1 on Billboard's Country Singles chart. Internationally, the single also topped the Canadian Country chart. Tim and this album will be back to this series.
