Songoftheday 1/2/18 - Now's the time this time I'm going to take a stand, call me honestly only if you show your hand...
"The Truth" - Tami Show
from the album Wanderlust (1991)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #28 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 5
This first Song of the Day for 2018 comes from the pop/rock band Tami Show, led by sisters Cathy and Claire Massey, and named for the iconic rock and roll performance movie from 1964. Getting together in Chicago in the late 1980's they released their self-titled debut album in 1988. From that record the single "She's Only Twenty" became their first minor pop hit at #88. Three years later and with a switch of labels, the band's second effort Wanderlust came out. The first single from set, "The Truth", was a slick post-new wave number written by the Masseys along with band guitarist Tommy Gawenda and bass player Mark Jiaras that gave the group their biggest success...
"The Truth" became the Tami Show's sole top-40 pop hit in September of 1991. It would be their last chart entry, and they split by the following year.
