Songoftheday 1/21/18 - Charlie drives a brand new Mercedes Benz, he's got another one just like it just like all his friends
"Power Windows" - Billy Falcon
from the album Pretty Blue World (1991)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #35 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 2
Today's song of the day comes from rock singer/songwriter Billy Falcon, from Long Island, New York. He had released a number of albums under different monikers (Burning Rose, Improper Attire, etc.), before grabbing the attention of Jon Bon Jovi. Signing on to Mercury Records, Billy released his Pretty Blue World album in 1991. That set included his biggest success, "Power Windows". Written by Falcon, the rock track would grab the attention of pop radio. It's definitely a song of its time, equating "power windows" as a luxury accessory for the sad, lonely rich guy who is the subject of the song...
"Power Windows" came Falcon's sole top-40 pop hit in October of 1991. The song also climbed to #19 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Internationally, the record peaked at #26 in Canada.
Although Falcon's own recording career hadn't had the success of "Power Windows", his relationship with Bon Jovi continued, with Billy writing several song with him through the 2000s, including multiple tracks released as singles like the title track from Bon Jovi's latest album, "This House Is Not For Sale". He also has consistently released his own material; his latest long-player, WHEN, came out in 2011.

Country singer John Berry released a cover of "Power Windows" in 1999, and the single climbed to #43 on Billboard's Country Singles chart...
Lastly, here's Billy with daughter Rose Falcon performing the song live...
Up tomorrow: Philly vocal group is having trouble letting go of the past.
