Songoftheday 8/3/17 - Endlessly walking through a winter that's so bitterly cold, Christmas is coming all the stores are wrapped in their neon glow...
"Does She Love That Man?" - Breathe featuring David Glasper
from the album Peace Of Mind (1990)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #34 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3
Today's song of the day comes from the British "sophisti-pop" group Breathe, who had returned to the American pop top-40 with the first single from their second album, "Say A Prayer", in the fall of 1990. The second single released in the U.S. was the heartbreak waltz of "Does She Love That Man?". Written by lead singer David Glasper (who gets separate billing here) and guitar/keys man Marcus Lillington, the break-up regret track name-checks Christmas in its first verse, possibly shortening its radio life...
"Does She Love That Man?" became Breathe's fifth and final top-40 pop hit in the U.S. in January of 1991. The single also climbed to #17 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. The trio would soon after be dropped by their label and split. Drummer Spike passed away in 2000.
Up tomorrow: Canadian diva in the making makes her American debut while trying to locate a pulse.
