"Hang In Long Enough" - Phil Collins
from the album ...But Seriously (1989)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #23 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 7

Today's song of the day comes from Phil Collins, whose ...But Seriously album had already scored four top-5 pop hits with "Do You Remember?", "Something Happened On The Way To Heaven", "I Wish It Would Rain Down", and the #1 epic "Another Day In Paradise". The fifth American single from the record would be the album's opening track, "Hang In Long Enough". Written by Collins who co-produced it with Hugh Padgham, the peppy white-boy funk rock selection featured the horn section of Earth, Wind and Fire, like many of his uptempo singles. The music video featured Phil and the boys on a boat...

While "Hang On Long Enough" didn't have the level of success of the other songs from the album, it still became his respectable fifth top-40 pop hit in America from the album in January of 1991. The track also climbed to #38 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart, while the 12" remixes, including one by Shep Pettibone, helped it up to #29 on their Dance Club Play list. Internationally, the single was a big hit in Canada, peaking at #9, while it was a top-40 hit in Ireland (#27) and the UK (#34).
