Songoftheday 3/6/17 - You should hear what they're sayin' about you, you should see the way they talk behind my back...
"Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue" - Exposé
from the album What You Don't Know (1989)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #17 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9
Today's song of the day comes from the dance-pop trio Exposé, whose sophomore effort What You Don't Know had rewarded them with three consecutive top ten pop hits with the title track, "When I Looked At Him", and "Tell Me Why". The fourth single from the record would be a ballad, like the #1 "Seasons Change" was on their debut. "Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue", written by 80s master songwriter Diane Warren, was yet another break-up tearjerker sung by Jeanette Jurado...
"Your Baby..." became the fourth and final pop top-40 hit from the album in May of 1990. The song was their third to reach the adult contemporary radio chart in Billboard at #9. North of the border, the record matched its American success in Canada at #17.
Another track from the album, "Stop, Listen, Look & Think", which put member Ann Curless on lead for the first time on a single, climbed to #19 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart.
Up tomorrow: Old-edition singers head off on their own on a toxic route.
