twostepcub's music chart for August 5, 2011...

Hey folks, it's down to the wire contract-wise, so to take my mind off that, here's my top-100 tunes for the week. This week Lady GaGa takes over the top spot, while OneRepublic (pictured above) hang on in the top-10. Former big hits by The Band Perry, Taylor Swift, Aloe Blacc, Natalia Kills, and the Script drop out, as singles by Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, and Jason Derulo make the biggest moves (jumps of 10+ places highlighted in red). Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on any of the highlighted artist names to go to their website. Fight on..

There are eight new songs (highlighted in yellow) and one high re-entry on my list, and here they are, with links to older YouTube hits in orange:

Ricky Martin has come a long way since being the runt of the Puerto Rican boyband Menudo, to the leader of the Latin Explosion of 1999, to the gay rights advocate he is today. Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca" was the hit of '99, and scored one more pop top-10 hit with "She's All I Ever Had". After cooling down a bit, though having a string of overseas and dance hits, Martin is back with a new autobiography and a new CD, featuring both English and Spanish songs. "Freak Of Nature", or "Mas" has reached the top ten on both the dance and Latin charts, and here's both...

Keith Urban is close to matching the almost-perfect record of having every radio single he's released reach the country top-10 save his first, "It's A Love Thing", back in '99 (hmmm, a pattern?). My favorite of his twenty-five big hits is "Tonight I Wanna Cry". His latest is the other side of that spectrum, celebrating the season in "Long Hot Summer"...

British boyband the Wanted score their second UK #1 single, after their debut hit "All Time Low", which is coincidentally climbing the US dance chart and bubbling back under my own. Their latest, the second from their upcoming fall CD, is "Glad You Came"...

Trance trio Above & Beyond has a cult following in the clubs, and after a couple well-performing singles like "On A Good Day" finally have a radio hit with "Sun & Moon" featuring vocalist Richard Belford...

After a trio of #2 rock hits with "Bat Country", "Nightmare", and "Welcome To The Family", SoCal outfit Avenged Sevenfold finally make #1 with the ballad "So Far Away"...

French super-DJ David Guetta joins his still-climbing "Where Them Girls At" with another triple threat with Taio Cruz and Ludacris with "Little Bad Girl"...

Vietnamese-American newcomer Yenn outdoes her minor dance hit form 2009 "So Good To Be Wrong" with the club top-20 "Pretty Ugly"...

The final debut is by Francophone superstar Mylene Farmer, who makes it an even dozen #1 hits in her home country, including songs like "XXL" and "Slipping Away" (with Moby). Her newest is "Lonely Lisa"...

and finally, one song makes a big re-entry on my list. It's Maroon 5 with Christina Aguilera with "Moves Like Jagger" (the performance video will debut on Monday)...
