twostepcub's music chart for July 3, 2009...

Hey folks, so sorry for skipping a week but thanks so much for hanging in there. It's time for my tunes for the week (well, the Independence day holiday week). Last week Shinedown made it to #1, and this week sees their second week on top. French DJ David Guetta and Destiny's Child Kelly Rowland (both pictured above) leap into the top-10, while AnnaGrace, Katy Perry, and Helmut Fritz make the biggest jumps (all big jumps in red). Link-O-Rama is in effect, so you can click on the name of any artist to go to their website (right-click to use another window or tab). One taco salad, please!

This week eleven new songs debut on my chart, and the highest is by the Pet Shop Boys, who have their tenth studio album, Yes, include the moody "Love, Etc."...

The Pussycat Dolls have been sending singles on my chart like sparklers; after "When I Grow Up", "I Hate This Part", and "Bottle Pop", as well as lead Nicole Scherzinger's track with AR Rahman "Jai Ho" , which is still on the chart in the top-20, the "group" is back with "Hush Hush;Hush Hush", which infuses an original ballad with a taste of Gloria Gaynor disco..

The next artist comes from as remote to myself as you can probably get - the Russian eastern shore city of Vladivostok, which is closer to North Korea and Japan than it is to Moscow. She's on PapaJoe (as in dad of Ashlee and Jessica Simpson) Records, and her first dance hit is "Nightlife"..

Sean Kingston lands his fourth US top-40 song and debuts on my chart with the dance fave "Fire Burning"..

I listen to a lot of European hits (as evident in my Distant Shores songs), and hot in England now is the debut by Pixie Lott. Keeping the retro sound alive as Winehouse is still a mess, here's Lott with Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)...

Green Day had a fast rising single with "Know Your Enemy", and as it starts to fade they're ready with the followup, "21 Guns"...

Kristinia DeBarge is a DeBarge, as in 80's soul family group DeBarge. Her dad, James, was the one that was married shortly to none other than Janet Jackson. Here's her first single, cribbing from the classic "Na Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye"...

Three country songs by men debut, and the first is the latest by alt-country act Jack Ingram, who goes pretty by-the-book for his latest, "Barefoot And Crazy"...

Even more cookie-cutter country is Justin Moore, a newbie, with "Small-Town USA"..

and finally, for the master. George Strait puts his millionth single on my chart with the preview of his forthcoming album, Twang. Here's "Living For The Night", live from his home state..

and lastly, soul singer Anthony Hamilton follows his 2sc hit "Cool" with the pretty "Point Of It All"...

Time for bed. Damn Mosquitoes! Where's my Cutter?
