Songoftheday 11/8/15 - With a kiss you can strip me defenseless, with a touch I completely lose control...

"I Get Weak" - Belinda Carlisle
from the album Heaven On Earth (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #2 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's song of the day is by singer Belinda Carlisle, who left the all-female rock band the Go-Go's in the mid-80s for a solo career and scored her first #1 pop hit in 1987 with "Heaven Is A Place On Earth". The second release from her second solo set was "I Get Weak", was written by song doctor Diane Warren, and with producer Rick Nowels basking her in a more mature arrangement, and a video that used the "black and white is classy" rule, Belinda continued her conquest of the middle-aged music audience set. It starred Tony Ward, who later on got freaky with Madonna for "Justify My Love", and was directed by Diane Keaton...

"I Get Weak" became Belinda's third top-10 pop hit in the U.S. in March of 1988. The single also climbed to #9 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. Internationally, the record made it to #4 in Canada, #5 in Ireland, and #10 in the UK.
