Songoftheday 11/15/15 - Without you I always thought that everything was fine, without you, never knowing you'd be mine...

"Out Of The Blue" - Debbie Gibson
from the album Out Of The Blue (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #3 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's Song of the Day comes from Debbie Gibson, the teen "pop prodigy" who danced into our hearts in 1987 with back to back top-5 hits in "Only In My Dreams" and "Shake Your Love". The third single from her debut album was the title track, "Out Of The Blue", a midtempo teen-pop love song that sounded a lot more polished that the usual Tiger Beat fare, especially notable since Debbie wrote the song herself and co-produced it with Fred Zarr...

"Out Of The Blue" became the third big hit from Out Of The Blue, reaching the top-3 on the American pop chart in April of 1988. The single also climbed up to #16 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart, and the 12" single popped in at #44 on their Dance Club Play list. Internationally, the song made the top-40 on both Canada (#21) and the UK (#19).
