Lizzo lands her second #1 hit on my chart, while twenty-one pilots (pictured above) fly into the top three. Songs from VASSY, Valerie Broussard/Galantis, and Brandy/Daniel Caesar make some of the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red ), while former big hits from the Black Keys, Cage The Elephant, Brittany Howard, Rob Thomas, and Gorgon City/MK drop off my list. This is the final week of "this year's chart", meaning that my top 100 countdown of the biggest hits of the year isn't too far behind. Who will come out on top? Stay tuned... This Week           Song/Artist (last week's position in parentheses) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. At the prodding of her father, Selena initially recorded Spanish-language music, more specifically the Tejano genre of it that had European and American touches that was popular among Mexican-Americans, even though she wasn't a native speaker of the language and had to teach herself. After a few albums as a family act, Selena was signed to EMI Records as a solo performer, hoping to be able to start to make English-language music. She released her self-titled debut album in 1989, with one English track (her own composition of " My Love "). The album itself climbed to #7 on Bi...

" 'Til You Do Me Right " - After 7 from the album Reflections (1995) Billboard Hot 100 peak: #31 (three weeks) Weeks in the Top-40: 11 Today's song of the day comes from the soul vocal trio After 7 , who had followed up their successful debut album with a retro top-40 pop hit in " Nights Like This " in the summer of 1991. However, when it came to their sophomore album release, brothers Kevon and Melvin Edmonds, along with Keith Mitchell, tried not to rely on family connections, specifically Kevon and Melvin's superstar singer/producer/songwriter brother Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, but the lead single from it, " Kickin' It ", stalled right under the pop top-40 in the fall of 1992, and none of the other three singles did any better (though two of the tracks including "Kickin' It" reached the R&B top 10). " Back For Good " - Take That from the album Nobody Else (1995) Billboard Hot 100 peak: #7 (two weeks) Weeks in the Top-40: 25 Today's song of the day comes from the British "boy-band" Take That . The act started when manager Nigel Martin-Smith auditioned and put together and singing and dancing group to accompany lead singer Gary Barlow. Hiring on Jason Orange, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, and 16 year old Robbie Williams, the group initially was aimed at the gay club market, as can be seen in their debut single " Do What U Like ", which was released in 1991 as became a minor singles hit in their native Britain at #82. Their next release, " Promises ", did much better, scoring their initial time in the UK Top-40. After another single missed the top-40, the group finally got their big break at home first with a cover song. As the fourth offering from the album, a redo of the disco classic " It Only Takes A Minute ", which sounde...
