Robbed hit of the week 5/7/18 - Giggles' "What Goes Around Comes Around"...
"What Goes Around Comes Around" - Giggles
from the album He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #47
This week's "robbed hit" comes from Latin freestyle dance music singer Maria Respeto, who recorded under the name "Giggles". Hailing from the Bronx, she released her debut single "Love Letter" in 1987. An underground hit in the tri-State area around New York, it was followed by "Hot Spot", which landed her on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart at #48. Three years later, Giggles re-emerged with what would become her biggest hit, "What Goes Around Comes Around". Written by Charlie Jimenez, who produced the record, it was one of the later gems of the freestyle movement...
While "What Goes Around Comes Around" was another huge success in the New York area, the single nationwide stopped just above the halfway mark on Billboard's pop chart in April of 1992. She would continue to release music through the decade, and still performs in oldies shows of the genre.
