Robbed hit of the week 5/28/18 - Keith Sweat's & LL Cool J's "Why Me Baby?"...

"Why Me Baby?" - Keith Sweat featuring LL Cool J
from the album Keep It Comin' (1991)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #44

This week's "robbed hit" comes from R&B singer Keith Sweat, whose smooth midtempo dance jam "Keep It Comin'" became his fourth top-40 pop hit in the beginning of 1992. His follow-up to that #1 R&B hit would be "Why Me Baby?", which featured rapper LL Cool J on this tale of deceit...

While "Why Me Baby?" spent a week at #2 on Billboard's R&B chart, the single stopped a few notches under the pop top-40 in June of 1992. A third single from the album, "I Want To Love You Down", made it to #20 on the R&B list, but missed the pop Hot 100 altogether.

An uptempo "Part 2" to "Why Me Baby?", with more rap from LL, was recorded but not released...
