This week there are eleven new songs on my list (marked in yellow). The bar is set high with Cee-Lo Green. Cee-Lo (born Thomas Callaway), was a member of rap group Goodie Mob (which had a top-40 hit with "Cell Therapy"). After breaking out for a couple solo albums, he joined with DJ Danger Mouse to form Gnarls Barkley, and had a worldwide smash with "Crazy". That was 2006, and the runaway success of that track seemed to overshadow everything else Cee-Lo's done. Well leave it to YouTube to shatter that. Thanks to a preview clip that only had the lyrics, and a deceptively catchy song in the Motown soul vein channeled through someone with Tourette's, he's found the first true underground internet breakout success this year. And for that, "Fuck You!"...
Next up is Pink, who will be releasing her first Greatest Hits set in two weeks. After eight top-10 hits including the #1 "So What", it's due, and her latest makes it nine. It's a rousing ode to the freaks of the world, so "Raise Your Glass"...
San Franciscans Train pull a hat trick with the third straight hit from their latest CD Save Me San Francisco, including their biggest hit to date, "Hey, Soul Sister". The boys are back with "Marry Me"...
Dance singer Jason Walker had five top-10 dance hits under the mentoring of Junior Vasquez, with two #1 hits in "Foolish Mind Games" and "Set It Free". He is on his own now, and he's gonna "Leave It All Behind"...
Ryan Star follows "Breathe" with the adult-rock hit "Start A Fire"...
Dutch DJ Afrojack has his first hit with singer Eva Simons with the Guetta-esque "Take Over Contol"...
Soul balladeer Donell Jones made the US pop top-10 in 1999 with "U Know What's Up". Jones is back with "Love Like This"...
After six number one solo hits, Robbie Williams is back in the fold, tentatively rejoining Take That and their new album and tour. In the meantime, he released his retrospective which includes a duet with bandmember Gary Barlow. Here's the Brokeback goodness of "Shame"..
Next is dance collective The Ones with singer Nomi Ruiz and "Let's Celebrate"...
Now for a Divine Brown that ISN'T a hooker. Brown is a Canadian R&B singer with her first hit, "Sunglasses"...
And to bring up the rear is country duo JaneDear Girls, and their premier single "Wildflower"...
Reno bound! And Mrs T. Get Better!
as a bonus here's the new video of the song roaring back into my list, La Roux's "In For The Kill", which just got released in the States...
bye bye!
