twostepcub's music chart for November 26, 2010...
Hey everyone, the leftovers are gone, and it's time for my top 100 tunes for the week. This week Bruno Mars takes over the number-one spot, while Rihanna (pictured above) makes it into the top-5. Songs by Kimberly Cole, Pink, and Duck Sauce make the biggest jumps (10+ moves marked in red) while former big hits by Train, Easton Corbin, Swedish House Mafia, Fantasia, Shakira, and Christina Aguilera drop out. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the highlighted names of any of the artists to go to their website (rightclick to use another window or tab). Cheers!

This week an even ten songs make it onto my chart (highlighted in yellow), and the first is by Irish band the Script. Now based in London, the trio had their biggest success in the UK with "The Man Who Can't Be Moved", while crossing across the pond with the top-20 US pop hit "Breakeven". Those two songs were on my shortlist of the best of 2009 and this year. They are back with a new album forthcoming, and a song that already has hit the top-5 in England. Here's "For The First Time"...
Next is country singer Kenny Chesney, who has his second single off his latest album, Hemingsway's Whiskey. After a dozen studio albums and hits sets Chesney has amassed eighteen number-one Billboard country radio singles, with two of them ("The Good Stuff" and "There Goes My Life") spending seven weeks apiece on top. His latest is a breezy "Somewhere With You"...
Next up is a song that was released seventeen years ago by Hawaiian singer Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'Ole. Israel became the first Hawaiian music artist certified to have sold a million records, and his medley of "Over The Rainbow" and "What A Wonderful World" has been used in many movies and commericials. Recently, a German TV ad has sparked its return to the world charts, and it makes its first appearance on mine. Sadly, the overweight singer died in 1997, but his legacy (and the popularity of this song) lives on. In fact, the version heard on Glee is based on this version.
Formerly of British girl-group Girls Aloud, Cheryl Cole has established herself again with her longstanding judge position on England's version of the X Factor. After 8 number ones with that group, she broke out on her own and had a solo charttopper with "Fight For This Love". Cheryl previews her second album with her second number one solo hit, "Promise This"...
After leaving the seminal 80s funk outfit the GAP Band, Charlie Wilson has held a respectable solo career, including three top-20 R&B hits, with "Charlie, Last Name Wilson" and "There Goes My Baby" hitting the top of the Adult R&B chart. His latest, from the forthcoming CD Just Charlie, is "You Are"...
Rihanna just became the first artist to have her first single from an album reach #1 after the second one. That first single is "Only Girl (In The World)" which is already #2 on my list. The second is the song that debuts here, "What's My Name"...
James Blunt had the single of 2005-6 with "You're Beautiful", which hit the top-ten in practically all the major music markets in the world, and spending a week on top in America. His latest has already reached the top in Switzerland, and gaining all across Europe. And thankfully not a ballad. Here's "Stay The Night"...
Australian rockers Sick Puppies have had some success on the various rock formats, placing "You're Going Down" in the runner-up spot on Mainstream Rock and "Free Hugs" campaign song "All The Same" making the top-10 on Alternative Rock. Their latest is subdued enough to be making headway at Adult top-40. Here's "Maybe"...
Canadian group Hedley features singer Jacob Hoggard, who was a third-place finisher on Canadian Idol in 2004. Taking a cue from Chris Daughtry, Hoggard reformed his band (with new members), and had a number-one Canadian hit with "On My Own". Their latest has crossed south of the border, and it's "Perfect"...
Eric Church's latest CD Carolina has produced his first two country top-10 hits with "Love Your Love The Most" and "Hell On The Heart". His third single is slowly but surely climbing the charts, making the top-20 over six months after debuting. Here's "Smoke A Little Smoke"..
