twostepcub's music chart for February 20, 2009...
Hey everybody, I know I'm a bit late, but I'm tryin' to catch up....this flu is finally leaving but I've slept most of the day off. Yech. I wanted to put up my songs for the week from last week, just to keep it flowing, though Link-O-Rama will resume in full for this coming weekend's chart, but this week I added links to the websites of the new debut songs. Just click to find out more about 'em.
This week Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" makes the big turnaround by making it to the top for the first week. She debuted back in June with the song, which had a run in the top-20, dropped down to #57, then makes it all the way, while having a second song climbing as well.
Meanwhile, Beyonce (pictured above with Hugh Jackman) may have had a wardrobe malfunction at the Oscars, but she manages to put two songs in the top-10 this week. The biggest moves come from Shontelle, Kelly Clarkson, and The Ting Tings, while songs by Ercola, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Hudson, Secondhand Serenade, and Solange drop out. Cough, cough!

This week seven new songs debut, while one more returns. The highest comes from dance singer Nicki Richards, who is a longtime touring singer who has performed with the likes of Madonna, Tina Turner, and Celine Dion. In the early 90's she had two top-40 hits on the R&B charts, and at the beginning of the century, paired with House legend Frankie Knuckles for a top-20 dance hit. She's back on the dance chart, all on her own now, with "Bring The Love", here as the remix by the great duo of Tony Moran and Warren Rigg...my pick for the week.
Bring The Love (Tony Moran & Warren Rigg Anthem Mix) - Nicki Richards
Next up is Jason Mraz, who is still hanging around the top-20 with his never-dying "I'm Yours". Mraz pairs up with fellow adult-pop star and Jennifer Aniston stand-in Colbie Caillat (jk) for the breezy "Lucky", coming in time for the Valentine's season. She's on the beach maybe in California, while he's in...well it looks like he's in Belgium.
Well I can remember when U2 were the younguns of the rock crowd. Jeez. In their 29th year since their debut with "I Will Follow", Bono and the boys come back with the first single from their first studio album in 4 years, No Line On The Horizon. It follows in the chaotic starters like "The Fly", "Discotheque", and "Numb". Here's "Get On Your Boots"...
Neo-soul crooner Anthony Hamilton won a Grammy this year for his pairing with Al Green on "You've Got The Love I Need" from Green's Lay It Down album. For his own CD, Hamilton teams with rapper David Banner (no, not the Hulk) to place his first 2SC song, "Cool".
The Plain White T's hung around my chart a little earlier, making it to #87 with the song that re-enters, "1,2,3,4" (otherwise known as "Hey There Delilah" part two)...
With his third and title single from his latest album, country traditionalist Josh Turner turns a hat trick on my list with "Everything Is Fine"...
Snow Patrol, the crossover UK band that's neither Coldplay nor Radiohead, replicate the mood of their massive "Chasing Cars" song with the dreamy "Crack The Shutters"...
and finally, country band the Lost Trailers were here last with "Holler Back", and follow up with the more serious "How 'Bout You Don't"...
take care, and thanks for readin'...comment if you like somethin'...even better go support 'em and buy their single or album...
