I've been lax, but a bit guilty. I was ready to make up a "Cee U Next Tuesday" special triple-award for the week, since the republican idiot trifecta of Nancy Pfotenhauer, Michelle Bachmann, and their pageant queen Ms. Informed Sarah Palin, I felt like I was ready for too much seeming ve-jay-jay hate. That's by far not the case, except in the case of these three. I'll expound more later, but in the meantime, I've been enjoying Palin's trip in the waters answering a simple question about what her JOB is that she's running for, and giving a wrong answer to even that. Levi Stubbs (Bottom left) with the Four Tops It's a sad day in music today, as the great Levi Stubbs, lead singer of the Four Tops, passed away at the age of 72 . When I was a child I adored the Tops (and by no means were they the thing in the early to mid-1980's), and "Bernadette" is in the top-5 of my favorite songs of all time. In fact I considered "Reach Out, I'll Be There"/"Standing In The Shadows Of Love"/"Bernadette" the "holy trinity" of pop music. I carried their Anthology double-cassette in my Walkman with me everywhere, and their music has lifted my spirits and soothed my pain for decades. I regret not seeing them live.
