Songoftheday 5/3/18 - I hate the rain and sunny weather, And I hate the beach and mountains too...

"Everything About You" - Ugly Kid Joe
from the albums As Ugly As We Wanna Be (1991) and America's Least Wanted (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #9 (four weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11

Today's song of the day comes from the hard rock band Ugly Kid Joe, who came together in Santa Barbara county, California in the late 1980s. They released a six-song EP in 1991, with the first single "Everything About You". A comic, almost novelty rock number almost in the style of early-80s Motley Crue, was written by lead singer Whitfield Crane and guitarist Klaus Eichstadt. You'd think that this song is a tongue-in-cheek play on words, but no payoff comes, just Whitfield saying he banged her sister. As for the music video, it's just the band on a beach with two dogs and a lot of blow-up sex dolls...

"Everything About You" became Ugly Kid Joe's first top ten pop hit in May of 1992. The song also climbed to #6 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Internationally, the song was a huge success for that kind of music, reaching #3 in the UK, #4 in Australia, and #5 in the Netherlands, Ireland, and Norway. It also peaked at #11 in Germany, #14 in Switzerland, #15 in Sweden, #25 in France, and two weeks at #37 in Canada. Although none of the other EP tracks made the chart, with the momentum from this single the band released their full-length debut, America's Least Wanted, which included "Everything About You".
