twostepcub's music chart for June 4, 2010...

Hey everyone, it's time for my tunes for the week. This week British R&B singer Taio Cruz has his first week at the #1 position, while OneRepublic (pictured above) hang on in the top-10. The biggest jumps are from songs by Macy Gray, Train, and School Gyrlz, while former big hits by Alice In Chains and Ke$ha drop out. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the highlighted names of any artist on here to go to their website. And I met Lisa James Otto!

This week there are eight new songs on my list, and the highest debut is by Katy Perry, who placed four singles on my chart from her debut album, and now previews her next album with a little help from rapper Snoop Dogg. It seems to be in contention for the "jam of the summer", with good reason. Here's "California Girls" (well, the music anyways, the video isn't released yet)...

Next up is not mess Ke$ha, whose "Tik Tok" just dropped out, to be replaced by the total bubblejam "Your Love Is My Drug". It's the other "Jam of the summer" contender, though this video is freaky, like I gotta be on drugs to watch it and understand it freaky.

Jaron Lowenstein formerly made waves at the turn of the century with his twin brother Evan as "Evan and Jaron" with the top-15 pop hit "Crazy For This Girl". Now Jaron has formed a country band, Jaron and the Long Road To Love, and his first single, a great little male kiss-off song, is "Pray For You", where Jamie Pressley gets a little payback...

Another "epic" video that hasn't been released yet is Jerod Leto's rock outfit Thirty Seconds To Mars' "This Is War".. Here's an audio clip..

Another week, another American Idol debut. No, no DeWeezer or Litterbox. It's a true Idol, Carrie Underwood, with her latest, "Undo It" (though in all fairness I have to say I hope she's not holed into rewriting "Before He Cheats" over and over again for success).

And for something completely different, how about some Swedish disco? Alexander Bard had been the frontman for one of my favorite wacky dance groups of the 90s, Army Of Lovers, who had hits like "Crucified" and "Israelism". Since then he has produced groups like Alcazar, before forming another unit called BWO, which stands for Bodies Without Organs (huh?). Their latest single has finally cracked the US market, and it's "Right Here, Right Now"... Crazy video, commence!

Next up is UK indie rock group One EskimO, which includes Kristian Leontiou, who had some success in Britain as a solo artist. The new outfit's first big success is Kandi...

And finally, the totally amazing Alicia Keys has her third US single from her latest CD The Element of Freedom debut, and the powerful video takes a stand on the prejudice towards interracial relationships. Here's "Unthinkable (I'm Ready)"...

Be well, everybody....
