twostepcub's music chart for January 28, 2011...

Hey guys, it's been a long, cold, and snowy week, but I'm home from work, and it's time for my top-100 tunes for the week. This week Katy Perry makes it three week at number-one, while Irish band the Script (pictured above) move within the top-10. Former big hits by Richard Vission and Taylor Swift drop out, while tracks by J786, Martin Solveig, and Robbie Williams make the biggest moves (jumps of 10+ places highlighted in red). Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the highlighted name of any of the artists below to go to their website for more information, clips, tour dates, and more. Let the shoveling begin!

This week seven new songs debut (highlighted in yellow), and I've included links for previous hits (marked in orange).

The highest entry is by Kylie Minogue, with the third single from last year's excellent Aphrodite album. She's going on tour including American dates, and I've got tickets! She's had six #1 hits in the UK, including two US top-10 hits, "The Locomotion" and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head". Her latest is "Better Than Today"...

Disney alumnus Selena Gomez and her band The Scene place their third consecutive top-40 pop hit (and third top-3 dance hit) with the title track from her sophomore disc, "A Year Without Rain". It follows the dance moves of "Naturally" and "Round And Round", and she'll need the exercise to prepare for running away from all the Justin Bieber fans furious of their budding friendship...

Darius Rucker has cut a nice career path since leaving Hootie & The Blowfish with six country top-20 hits under his belt. The sixth is good enough to match the success of the #1 hits "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" and "Come Back Song". This one is simply "This"...

Swedish DJ Tim Bergling releases records and remixes tracks usually under the moniker Avicii, but his first big success is with a truncated form of his name, Tim Berg. Berg mashed up his instrumental track "Bromance" with another dance track, "The Love You Seek" by Italian DJ Samuele Santini, with vocals by British singer Amanda Wilson, who usually records with faves of mine Freemasons. The resulting hit, "Seek Bromance" was a top-5 hit in Belgium and Holland, and is now gaining steam on US dance radio. His other single (under "Avicii), "My Feelings For You" is pretty awesome as well and worth seeking out...

Now for something completely different - traditionalist country singer Joe Nichols has one of the best male voices currently, and he's scored three #1 singles on that chart with "Brokenheartsville", "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off", and "Gimme That Girl" (from last year). His just-released Greatest Hits CD contains all three, along with this latest single, "The Shape I'm In"...

Enrique Iglesias is climbing the American (and my) charts with "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)", but he's also got a European hit that's a top-5 single in France which also was a top-10 in the UK and a host of other countries. He gets some help with ex-Pussycat Dolls lead Nicole Scherzinger with "Heartbeat"...

Finally country duo Thompson Square have their first country top-20 single with "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not"...

Bundle up!
