story of the day....and the beat goes on

As the majority of Americans seem to be transfixed on where golfers stick their clubs, the juggernaut of political self-serving molasses known as the US Senate is bouncing the healthcare reform dodgeball like a repressed goth girl at a Catholic elementary school.

I got to hand it to the politicians and pundits who have been able to convince middle to lower-but-think-they're-middle-class people that it's in their best interests to continue the clusterfuck of a crapshoot that the insurance industry has become. Without a bat of a eyelash, millions of dollars are being passed from the coffers of AIA members to your local Senator. Meanwhile, there is such an uproar over a misguided fear. Fear of losing their insurance? No. More like fear of someone they feel undeserving getting some "freebie". An unemployed person? Well, if it's someone you know, it's "Bobby's going through a tough time, he got laid off". Someone you don't? "Fucker should get a job!". I see this in the comments of people around me every day. If you bring up the fact that if they just show up an the emergency room, the cost gets passed to us ten-fold anyway, it's worth not having any entitlement to someone they feel isn't "worthy". Without breaking through this an really looking at why we subject our nations health to the free market, will this country make any progress.
