Brit Sweep: August 5, 2016...






Let's cross the Atlantic one more time to check out the songs and albums making their way on to the charts in the UK this week.

On the singles chart, Major Lazer, Justin Bieber, and MO spend a second week at #1 with "Cold Water"...

Another dance act, the Chainsmokers, claim the top debut at #33 with their fourth top-40 hit "Closer" featuring Halsey. It follows "Don't Let Me Down", which went to #2 and is still up at #4...

French DJ/producer Martin Garrix teams up with Brooklynite Bebe Rexha for "In The Name Of Love" at #52. Martin topped the chart in the UK with "Animals"...


As the new Suicide Squad film-comic rework debuts in cinemas, a track from its soundtrack, "Sucker For Pain" from rappers T-Pain, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Logic, and Lil' Wayne and bands Imagine Dragons and X Ambassadors punches in at #65. Another song from the movie, "Heathens" from twenty-one pilots, leaps to #20 as well...


YouTube comic rapper KSI from Hertfordshire in south-central England scores his third charting hit at #69 with "Friends With Benefits" featuring MNDM. He went to #30 previously with "Lamborghini"...


Imani Williams, who sang on Sigala's #5 UK hit "Say You Do", debuts her solo single "Don't Need No Money", featuring Sigala and neo-house duo Blonde, at #71...


Newcomer Offaiah lands at #75 with "Trouble"...


Matoma, a tropical house DJ/producer from Norway, recruits British singer Becky Hill at #82 for "False Alarm". The song has already gone to #3 in his homeland and #18 in Sweden...


While Bastille's radio single "Good Grief" is up to #13, another song of theirs, "Fake It", drops in at #83...


American pop/R&B star Jason Derulo shuffles in at #87 with "Kiss the Sky"...


L.A. electronica act Cheat Codes follow up their UK top-10 hit "Sex" with the song at #93, "Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On)" featuring Dutch DJ Dante Klein...


Digital Farm Animals, the moniker of remixer Nicholas Gale, slips in at #95 with "Millionaire" featuring New Jersey act Cash Cash and rapper Nelly. He co-wrote and co-produced the top-5 hit "No Money" for Galantis...


 Meanwhile, on the Albums chart in the UK, it's bittersweet at the top as the indie-rock band Viola Beach from Cheshire, who all died in a tragic car accident, land at #1 with their self-titled album...


American hip-hop mogul DJ Khaled enters at #7 with Major Key...


British neo-soul singer Nao, from Nottingham, makes her debut at #17 with For All We Know...


Canadian rock band Billy Talent get their third top-40 album in a row in the UK with Afraid Of Heights at #23...


British dance music veteran Chicane, from Buckinghamshire, celebrates his long career with the retrospective Twenty, which comes in at #40...
