twostepcub's music chart for July 29, 2011...

Hey folks, it's countdown to (possible) strike time, but for now time for my top-100 tunes for the week. This week the LMFAO boys spend a sixth week at the #1 spot, while Katy Perry (pictured above) geeks her way into the top-5. Tracks by Beyonce, Foo Fighters, and Jason Derulo make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red), while former big hits by Kristine W., Snoop Dogg, Cee-Lo Green, and Sylvia Tosun drop out. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on any of the 100+ highlighted artist names to go to their official website for tour info, videos, music, and more. Get the bologna salad and meet me in the basement!

This week sees ten new entries on my list (highlighted in yellow). Here they are, with a little backstory about the artists and their previous hits' clips highlighted in orange. Up, Up and away...

The highest debut belongs to my fave Kylie Minogue, who places a fourth hit from her excellent Aphrodite CD on my chart. It also included "All The Lovers", her second single to make #3 in the UK (the other being "In Your Eyes"). The latest is her closer from her last concert tour, which will be released on DVD not soon enough, and it's also been remixed by her old PWL collegue Pete Hammond. Here's "Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)"...

Enrique Iglesias rode the Latin Invasion in '99 to the tune of two #1 US pop hits with "Baillamos" and "Be With You". A dozen years later, he is still going strong thanks to a few Jersey Shore-friendly hits like "I Like It" and "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)". His latest teams him up with fellow lothario Usher and rapper Lil' Wayne for the stripclub ode "Dirty Dancer"...

DJ Roger Sanchez has remixed a horde of hit singles in the last 20 years, and scored a #1 British single of his own with 2001's Toto-sampling "Another Chance". He also won a Grammy for remixing No Doubt's "Hella Good". His latest single features Mobin Master and Canadian DJ MC Flipside on "Worldwide"...

The other "DJ" making his debut is English DJ Fresh. Born Daniel Stein, he first graced the UK top-40 earlier this year with the underground jam "Gold Dust". This time he takes his drum-n-bass style all the way to #1 pop in England, and it's featuring the vocals of Sian Evans, the lead singer for 2000s dance act Kosheen (best known for "Hide U"). Here's "Louder" and see if you're like me and see a resemblance to Christina Aguilera's "Fighter"....

Loick Essien, an Englishman with Nigerian and Ghanian parents, also follows his first minor UK hit (in this case, "Stuttering") with a much bigger hit, the UK top-3 "How We Roll" featuring Tanya Lacey on backup...

Rihanna has always been a mainstay on my list, and with eighteen US top-10 hits and lead or supporting artist since her first, 2005's "Pon De Replay", I'm certainly not alone. This week, she joins her still-climbing "California King Bed", the fourth single from her latest CD Loud, with her fifth, a darker dancehall jam that's a top-3 hit in France, "Man Down"...

Neo-soul crooner Kem has placed two song at the top of Billboard's Adult R&B chart with "I Can't Stop Loving You" from his second album and "Why Would You Stay?" from his latest. That CD also contains his newest single, "If It's Love", though in a different version with Maurissa Rose. The "single" version recruits Chrissette Michele, who won an urban-alternative Grammy in 2009 with the track "Be OK", and is one rung below matching her peak on Adult R&B with "If I Have My Way". Here's their fab collab, "If It's Love"...

Music by Singersroom.com | More on Kem

Beth Ditto normally fronts the Gossip, who broke through in Britain with "Standing In The Way Of Control", and conquered the rest of Europe last year with "Heavy Cross". This year Beth released a solo EP led by this dance hit and channeled Madonna in "I Wrote The Book"..

The Goo Goo Dolls hold the record for the most top-10 hits on Billboard's Adult top-40 list, from 1995's "Name" (from the first year of that chart) to last year's "Home". Not bad for a former underground post-punk band that had a Paul Westerburg cult-classic with "We Are The Normal". Their latest is from the soundtrack from the latest Transformers juggernaut, and it's "All That You Are"...

The final debut is from Toby Keith's forthcoming CD Clancy's Tavern, and instead of putting out something with a little more quality like "Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine On You" or "Who's That Man", he plays to "the base" with the jingoistic "Made In America", which I'm sure is a hit in the Chinese-goods-peddling Walmarts across the land...

And that's all. G'nite folks!
