twostepcub's music chart for June 24, 2011...

Hey everyone, I'm back from a celebratory Pride Day in New York, and ready for my top tunes for the week. This week Adele finally gives way for LMFAO to rise to the top, while country family trio The Band Perry (pictured above) moves up the top-10. The biggest jumps come from tracks by Lady GaGa, Andrea Rosario, and Natalia Kills (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red), while former big hits by Avril Lavigne and Miranda Lambert drop out. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on any of the highlighted artists to go to their website to get more information about the band or singer. Wanna get married?

This week there are a lucky seven new songs on my list, and I've included links to some of the artists' new hits in orange.

The highest entry is from Katy Perry, who is looking to have her fifth US #1 from her CD Teenage Dream, which would make her the first since Michael Jackson's Bad from 1987. It would follow the charttoppers "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", and "E.T." (which is still on my list and the US top-10). The chances are looking good, especially which this retrotastic video with cameos from Glee's Kevin McHale and Darren Criss, Corey Feldman, Debbie Gibson, Hanson, Kenny G, and yes, that Rebecca Black. Here's the 15-minutes extender of "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"....

Next up is singer Linnea from Missouri, who has her first hit on the dance club chart via "Move With It"...

Kenny Chesney has his first big hit in 1995 with the country top-10 "Fall In Love". He was only 27 at the time, and sixteen years later and 38 more top-10s later, Chesney has emerged at one of the biggest consistent hitmakers in Nashville. He's also has #1 duets through the years with Uncle Kracker ("When The Sun Goes Down") and Mac McAnally ("Down The Road"). His third single from his Hemingsway's Whiskey CD teams him up with rocker Grace Potter, who already is on my chart with "Paris". Here's "You & Tequila"...

Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx's side project Sixx:AM had a runner-up rock hit in 2007 with "Life Is Beautiful", and four years later has his second with a song almost similarly titled but different in lyric. And even though the video is kind of disturbing, I think it's better than anything the Crue has done in the last 10 years. Here's "Lies Of The Beautiful People"...

Cult reggae-rock fusion band Sublime have been out of action since the loss of frontman Brad Nowell form a heroin overdose. Their self-titled CD produced the #1 rock hit "What I Got" as well as classics "Santeria" and "Wrong Way". The remaining two members, Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson, recruited singer Rome Ramirez in 2009 to perform in shows as Sublime. However the Nowell estate held up the Sublime name in limbo until this year, with the courts allowing the band to record under the moniker Sublime With Rome. Ramirez also appeared on the megahit rock song "Lay Me Down" by the Dirty Heads. The SWR have their first true hit with "Panic"...

Bensalem, PA born Christina Perri follows up her top-20 US pop hit "Jar Of Hearts" with another song that's a bit less bitter, and hitting big at adult top-40 radio, "Arms"...

The last debut is by Floridian singer Jake Owen, who so far has scored two top-10 country hits with "Startin' With Me" and "Don't Think I Can't Love You", which made #2 in 2008. I'm sure he's hoping to have his first #1, and just might with "Barefoot Blue Jean Night"...

and as a bonus boogie finish, here's the one song that re-enters, the collaboration between DJs Sultan and Ned Shepard and singer Nadia Ali with "Call My Name"...

...and to all a good night. Next week - the hottest 100 songs on my chart so far this year! Will Katy Perry, hold on, or will Bruno, the Script, or Adele take over? Stay Tuned....
