twostepcub's music chart for May 27, 2011...

Hey folks, I'm home from work, and time for my top tunes for the week. This week Adele makes her third week on top, while Katy Perry (pictured above) abducts her way in the top-10. Former big hits by Adele, The Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, and Martin Solveig drop of my list, while singles by INXS, Kristine W., and Bruno Mars made the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). Link-o-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the names of any of the artists to go to their website. 50$ for cupcakes? For REAL?!?!?!

There a dozen new entries on this week's chart (highlighted in yellow). I've also included links to the artist's previous hits in orange.

This week's highest debut is by dance-music singer Sylvia Tosun, The founder of her own record label, Sea To Sun Records, Tosun has had a lot of success on the dance chart, with a supporting #1 credit to her name ("Push & Pull" with DJs Noferini & Marini) and a top-3 solo single ("Above All" from last year). Her latest is already in the club play top-5, and it's in my opinion her best to date. Here's "World Keeps Turning"...

Californian retro-soul singer Egbert Dawkins, recording under the moniker Aloe Blacc, is profiting from a international success with his first hit, which now is getting attention in America thanks to a cell-phone ad campaign. A top-10 hit in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium, it's a great catchy tune in the style of Lou Rawls and Donny Hathaway. Here's "I Need A Dollar"...

Cuban rap lothario Pitbull is striving to match the success of his biggest hit, and he's one notch under the peak position of the #2 "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)". He's backed by three artists - the soul singer Ne-Yo, who already has a US #1 under his belt with "So Sick", Dutch producer Afrojack (most known for "Take Over Control"), and newcomer Nayer on "Give Me Everything"...

Dance trio Hyper Crush had a minor dance radio hit with "Keep Up" last year, and this time score a top-10 club play hit with "Kick Us Out"...

After having the biggest hit of their career with "Hey, Soul Sister", San Franciscans Train release an ode to their hometown with "Save Me, San Francisco"...

Michael Jackson has his first dance hit since his death (and since 1995's "Scream") with the Teddy Riley-produced "Hollywood Tonight".

Country trio Lady Antebellum had the biggest crossover success of last year with the Grammy-winning "Need You Now", and seek to replicate its success with their leadoff single from their upcoming CD, and it has already been the highest-debuting country single, with "Just A Kiss"...

Dierks Bentley graduated high school right down the road from my own, at the same place Huey Lewis did awhile back. Crazy, huh? Dierks has hit the top of the country chart seven times, from 2003's "What Was I Thinkin'" to 2009's "Sideways". After a great bluegrass CD last year, he is back with the party-life atmosphere we expect from country's Seth Rogen doppelganger, with "Am I The Only One"....

Emo-electronic group Death Cab For Cutie come back three years after their first number-one album Narrow Stairs, containing the top-10 modern rock hit "I Will Possess Your Heart" with a new track that on track to surpass their biggest hit, 2005's "Soul Meets Body". I just got the album on Amazon.mp3 for 5$, and it's ethereal and awesome. Here's "You Are A Tourist"...

Country singer Jason Aldean has his first country charttopper in 2005 with "Why", and right now he has the biggest-selling CD by a man in his genre. While Aldean's duet with Kelly Clarkson, "Don't You Wanna Stay", has crossed over from country to pop, his latest single takes a hard detour from adult contemporary with a remake of alt-country-rap bad boy Colt Ford's "Dirt Road Anthem"...

Aussie rockers Sick Puppies recently had a runnerup hit on my chart with "Maybe", and now have their second top-5 mainstream-rock hit (after "You're Going Down") with the fourth single from their latest CD, "Rip Tide"...

The final new entry is by French DJ David Guetta, who is also climbing with his remix of Snoop Dogg's "Sweat". Guetta teams up this time with high-profile pop-rappers Flo Rida (who has a pair of US #1 hits with "Low" and "Right Round") and Nicki Minaj (most-known for the #1 R&B hit "Moment 4 Life"). The trio's collaboration does seem a little too samey as his "Sexy Bitch", but make up your own mind with "Where Them Girls At"...

Also, two more records re-enter, first the French hit by Ivory Coast's Magic System, "Cherie Coco"...

and the Finnish rock band Sunrise Avenue are back with their song that's still a big hit in Germany (yo, Hoff!) with "Hollywood Hills"...
