Today's SOTD comes from lite-jazz saxophonist Kenny G, who had an unexpected top-10 pop instrumental hit with "Songbird". For its follow-up, to avoid the risk of another instrumental, Kenny released a middle-of-the-road soft-pop number "Don't Make Me Wait For Love", featuring vocals from Lenny Williams, the former lead singer for the funk-rock band Tower of Power...


"Don't Make Me Wait For Love" became Kenny G's second top-40 pop hit in November of 1987. The single climbed all the way to #2 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio chart, and #17 on their R&B list.
