twostepcub's music chart for February 17, 2012...

Hey folks, it's time for my top-100 tunes for the week. This week Adele spends a second week at the top as she wins her album of the year Grammy, while Swedish DJ Avicii (pictured above) moves into the runner-up spot. Former big hits by Adele, David Nail, and Nickelback drop off my list, as the biggest jumpers are by songs by Train, Taylor Swift, and Foster The People (moves of 10+ places marked in red). Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can clink on any of the highlighted artist names to go to their official website (right click to use another tab or window). Get Better, Karofsky!

There's nine new songs on my list, and here they are, along with a little about the artists, with links to their previous hits in orange.

The highest entry is by singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson, who's biggest success so far is the adult top-40 top-10 hit "Come On Get Higher" from 2008. This year, the first single from his latest CD, "Faster", almost made it at #11, and the followup features country duo Sugarland and marks his first appearance on country radio with the outstanding "Run"...

Next up is the latest by hard-rockers Shinedown, who hail from Jacksonville Florida. Their last CD, The Sound Of Madness, produced six giant rock singles, five of which topped the mainstream rock chart (including my fave "Second Chance" and "Devour") The group preview their upcoming album with a song that would have fit nicely it last night's Glee. Here's "Bully"....

Mainstream-rapper Flo Rida is still hangin' in my top-10 with the Etta James sampling "Good Feeling", and he follows this up with a track featuring Australian singer Sia, who is also featured on David Guetta's international hit "Titanium", on "Wild Ones"...

This week sees all four The Voice judge/mentors represented on my chart as country lothario Blake Shelton reappears with the third single from his latest CD, Red River Blue. His last five singles all topped the country singles chart, including "All About Tonight" and "God Gave Me You", and he's looking to extend that streak with "Drink On It"...

Scottish chanteuse Emeli Sande has appeared on five previous British top-10 singles, including two that made my list - her lead debut "Heaven" and her supporting role in the #1 "Read All About It" with Professor Green. Her CD Our Version Of Events isn't scheduled to arrive in the States until June, so I may just have to import it if not for excellent song like her latest, "Next To Me"...

France's "Kylie", Mylene Farmer, is back with a song that while it didn't extend her eight no#1 hit streak, at least placed in their top-5. It's from her compilation of hits from 2001 to today that includes great songs like "Sextonik" and "Si J'avais Au Moins".... Here's "Du Temps" ...

Four-piece group from the Caribbean island of Barbados, Cover Drive, follow up their UK top-10 "Lick Ya Down" with their first British charttopper, "Twilight"...

Last season's American Idol winner, the Alfred E Neumann-esque Scotty McCreery, follows his debut "I Love You This Big" with the top-20 country hit "The Trouble With Girls"...

The final debut is by Parisian group Sexion D'Assaut, with their top-3 hit "Avant Qu'elle Parte" (Before She Leaves)....

Be well, all.
