This week there are nine new songs on my list (marked in yellow), and the first is by German Andre Tanneberger, who records under the moniker ATb. His classic trance track "9PM (Till I Come)" was a fave of mine back in the day, and his latest single isn't too shabby. Here's "Could You Believe"...

Next is R&B singer Monica, who was only 15 in 1995 when her debut album came out giving her three top-10 pop hits, including "Don't Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days)". Her biggest success was her duet with Brandy, "The Boy Is Mine", as well as two more #1 hits, "The First Night" and "Angel Of Mine". Monica's last single, "Everything To Me", made #1 on the R&B chart, and her latest is almost there, here's "Love All Over Me"...

I just purchased the sophomore effort from the Zac Brown Band, and am happy to relay that it's as great as their debut effort, The Foundation, which produced four country #1s and a #2 hit (with all five making the top-40 on Billboard's Hot 100). Those #1's were "Chicken Fried", "Toes", "Highway 20 Ride" and my favorite cut on the CD, "Free", which just dropped on my chart this week. The first single from You Get What You Give I must confess feels to me like stuntcasting, but they do bring out a great performance by Alan Jackson, and it's quite understated and sweet coming from a blockbuster CD and awards bonanza. Here's "As She's Walking Away"...

Here is another dance artist going under a pseudonym, this time Englishman Paul Walden who records under the name Guru Josh. His megahit "Infinity" was a top-10 hit in England twice, in 1990 at the middle of the big "rave" scene, and in 2008, where it became a worldwide hit even on my chart. The followup to that is the "Eternity", which I'm still trying to find out the sample sax riff in this, because it sounds so familiar early 80s, like Gerry Rafferty or the like.

Arizona-based Jimmy Eat World's sixth major-label release comes 16 years after their first, including two alternative rock #1 hits, "The Middle" and "Pain". Their latest could be their third, it's already #2 on Billboard's list, and it's called "My Best Theory"...

When Cornell Haynes Jr., aka Nelly, came onto the rap scene in 2000, I didn't think a rapper with a name like "Nelly" would be anything but a one/two hit wonder (with "Country Grammar"). Boy was I wrong. Since then he's accrued four number 1 pop hits, including his signature track "Hot In Herre", his duet with Kelly Rowland "Dilemma", "Shake Your Tailfeather" from Bad Boys II, and that ode to fake teeth, "Grillz". Nelly's latest steers him more in the pop/rap hybrid B.o.B's ben ridin' with lately, and it's given him his first top-10 song in five years. Here's "Just A Dream"...

English duo Hurts continue in the synthpop steps of Naked Eyes, Soft Cell, and Erasure combined with the dark overtones of Depeche Mode on "Wonderful Life", which has become a hit across Europe, making the top-10 in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Denmark, even though not making the top-10 in their home country (although with a top-5 album there). It's a great song, and deserves some love here in the States. Here's "Wonderful Life"...

Michael Franti has been a seminal player in the alternative rap culture, with his work with the Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy notable for the anti-hatecrime "The Language Of Violence", which brought to light the homophobia in urban gang life. Since then he's evolved into a more peacenik artist (barefoot all the time and all), and struck gold with the hit "Say Hey (I Love You)", which made it all the way to #4 nationwide and #1 on my chart. Along with the group Spearhead, his latest is just in time for the end of the season, "The Sound Of Summer"...

Florida native Kaci Battaglia was first a hit in England, churning out three top-40 hits in the beginning of the 2000s, including a version of the Partridge Family's "I Think I Love You" which made the top-10 in the UK. Since then Kaci has matured into a semi-raunchy dance act, with "Crazy Possessive" hitting #1 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart. Kaci's new single is already in the top-10 on the dance chart, and for the third time this year on my chart features rapper Ludacris. Here's "Body Shots"...

Thanks again for reading, and have an awesome week!

UK Dance/Rap collective RollDeep have a second hit on their hands as "Green Light" follows "Good Time" to the #1 spot in the UK. Ah, memories of Snap! and the Real McCoy...

Finally, Toby Keith bring trash full-circle with "Trailerhood"...

Happy flushing!

This week there are nine new songs (highlighted in yellow), and the highest entry is by English folk-rock band Mumford & Sons. Named for their singer (Mark Mumford), they have scored a top-10 album and two top-40 singles in the UK, including this one, "Little Lion Man"...

Next up is country family trio The Band Perry, who show unusual depth for a new act with the melancholy but beautiful "If I Die Young"...

The Swedish House Mafia is a collective of DJ's from, yes, Sweden, that currently includes three DJs on DJMag's top-100 poll of 2009: Axwell (#14), Steve Angello (#20), and Sebastian Ingrosso (#25). Each has worked with many dance act, and for their first bonified act hit, the 'Mafia' recruited uber-producer and NERD member Pharrell Williams to sing on "One (Your Name)"...

San Diegans Switchfoot are back with a song about civil rights leader John M. Perkins - in fact, it's subtitled "John Perkin's Blues". Perkins, a sharecropper, became involved in civil rights promotion through the church, and the (semi) Christian rock group honors him with "The Sound". It include interview clips, which are really relevant in this anti-immigrant wave.

Zayra (Alvarez) was a contestant on "Rock Star: Supernova" (the second season of the show where INXS' next singer came from). She came only in eighth, but proves to be the first to land a spot on the singles charts with the dance club hit "VIP", though the Puerto Rican's "Dad" is not "Mick Jagger"...

Next is the billionth hit single for country legend George Strait, whose Twang album has produced 4 top-20 singles, the latest being "The Breath You Take"...

B.o.B and Bruno Mars just dropped out of my top-100 with "Nothin' On You", but each return with a new song apiece. B.o.B now teams with the lead singer of modern rock gods Weezer, Rivers Cuomo, for the bouncy and nonsensical hit "Magic"...

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars (who is really Peter Hernandez) has his first solo chart hit after stinting on BoB's "Nothin' On You" and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire". It's got a really cool video with an inventive use of cassette tape. here's "Just The Way You Are"...

And finally, country singer Josh Thompson from Wisconsin follows up his hit "Beer On The Table" with the redneck-baiting of "Way Out Here"...

and that's all, folks...

There are ten new songs on my list, and the first one is by rap artist Flo Rida, who teams up with the dance producer of the moment, David Guetta, with a song made for the movie Step Up 3D. Here's "Club Can't Handle Me"..

Next up is Ne-Yo, who is back with another Dance/R&B jam in the Usher/Chris Brown vein. Here's "Beautiful Monster"...

Adam Lambert follows up his #1 hit "Whataya Want From Me" with the leather and eyeliner bounce of "If I Had You"...

Washington state powerhouse The Gossip returns with the bongo-driven "Pop Goes The World"...

Nelly Furtado's latest CD "Mi Plan" mixes influences from Spain and Latin America, and already has produced a hit with "Manos Al Aire". Now she gets some help from Spanish singer Concha Buika for "Fuerte" ("Strong")...

Australian chanteuse Giulietta has her first hit with the dance jam "Vertigo"...

Yoko Ono just won't stop. She's 77, and still another remix of one of her old song is shooting up the dance chart, in it's original incarnation its a swing, but it's been remade into a dance jam. Unfortunately, the only version up on Youtube is the original...sooooo here it is..

Country group Rascal Flatts previews their first CD for their new label Big Machine with "Why Wait"...

French DJ Bastian Laval debuts with a dance jam NOT producted by David Guetta. Imagine! Here's "Restlessness" featuring Layla..

and finally, Florida rock band Anberlin, who had the biggest Modern Rock song of last year with "Feel Good Drag", are back with the second song in this week's top-100 titled "Impossible"...

Peace out and back to work...
