twostepcub's music chart for July 23, 2010...

Hey everyone, it's finally staycation-time and time for my top tunes for the week. This week Katy Perry and Snoop spend a third week at the top, while rock group for adults Train (pictured above) have two hits in my top 5 (don't even remember if that's happened before). Previous big hits by Kelly Clarkson, Theory Of A Deadman, and Muse drop out, while songs by Maroon5, Robyn, and Kylie Minogue make the biggest jumps. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the highlighted name of any of the artists below to go to their website. Pass the suntan lotion!

This week I've got ten new songs on my list, and the highest is by an act owing its current success to Madonna. Meck is a British DJ who along with partner Dino Lenny had a UK hit single with "Feels Like Home". Madge used it in her Sticky And Sweet tour as a mash-up with her "Like A Prayer" powerhouse. It was phenomenal. Meck went to re-release the mashup, but due to rights issues had to use another singer. It's still rad (especially the video), and it's "Feels Like A Prayer"...

Next is the new single from American Idol season 2 alum Kimberley Locke, who finished behind Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken. Her new single is a nice disco throwback of "Strobelight"...

And now for something different, hard rock band Disturbed preview their upcoming album Asylum with the thoughtful rocker "Another Way To Die", along with a clip that spotlights the crises going on in the world today...

Well I guess I got over my beef with rapper Eminem, even though I think his recent statements over gay marriage derive more from ennui than support, but nevertheless he has two new songs from his blockbuster comeback CD Recovery. The first is his collaboration with Rihanna, and considering her history, especially poignant. Here's "Love The Way You Lie"...

This next rock band hails from South Africa like their labelmates Seether, and Civil Twilight's debut single is "Letters From The Sky"...

Uncle Kracker's "Smile" is currently enjoying a second run on my chart due to its resurgence on country radio, but on pop/rock stations the new song is a collaboration with Kid Rock, and it's "Good To Be Me"...

Romanian dance siren Inna follows up her international smash hit "Hot" with a similar sounding Baltopop of "Amazing"...

...and we're back to Eminem, with the epic Billboard #1 hit "Not Afraid"...

and finally I end with two country music legends. First is alt-country god Gary Allan, with "Get Off On The Pain"...

and the artist with the longest history of the debuts is Alan Jackson, whose sixteenth studio album's second single follows the stately charm of "It's Just That Way" with a little cornball cliche-dropping on "Hard Hat & A Hammer"..

G'nite!
