twostepcub's music chart for July 2, 2010...

Hey guys, to everyone in the States, I hope you had an awesome Independence Day, and as I watch the fireworks (on TV), it's time for my top tunes for the week. This week Usher spends a second week on top, while Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg (pictured above) leap into the runner-up spot. Songs by Kelly Rowland, the Zac Brown Band, and Silversun Pickups make the biggest jumps, while former big hits by Bon Jovi and Monica drop out. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the highlighted name of any artist to go to their website. Where's the fireworks?

This week there are nine new songs, as well as the current year's Eurovision winner re-entering. The highest debut is by Swedish singer Robyn. In the 90's she had two top-10 singles with "Do You Know (What It Takes)" and "Show Me Love". After a resurrection with the song "With Every Heartbeat", she's back as a relevant artist, and her latest is her best yet. Here's my (so-far) dance song for the summer, "Dancing On My Own"...

The World Cup soccer/football tourney is in full force, and while both the US and England are knocked out, I'm still following (go Netherlands!), and the official song by Shakira with South African group Freshlyground incorporates a record from Cameroon called Zangalewa. Here's "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)"...

Next up is alt-gone pop band the Goo Goo Dolls, who preview their upcoming album with "Home"...

LA band Lifehouse's follow-up to "Halfway Gone" is "All In"..

Travie McCoy takes time away from fronting the Gym Class Heroes to get his Jack Johnson groove on with help from Bruno Mars, who also is helping B.o.B with "Nothing On You". Travie just wants to be a "Billionaire"...

Country singer Craig Morgan's fourth single from his current album That's Why is the moral-o-drama of "This Ain't Nothin'"...

Next is singer Jessy Matador, originally born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (the bigger old Zaire one), and now residing in France. His former group are now Magic System, who were on my list earlier with "Meme Pas Fatigue". His new solo single was France's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, which was won by Germany's Lena Meyer-Landrut (who's back with "Satellite"). The song also has seen exposure with the World Cup, and here's "Allez Ola Ole"...

Country baritone Josh Turner is back with his version of a summer throwaway, "All Over Me"...

and finally, dance act Maniacalm recruits singer LALA for the radio hit "Never Forget You"...

and as a bonus, here's the Eurovision winner that re-enters my list, Lena Meyer-Landrut with "Satellite"...

Ka-Boom!
