twostepcub's music chart for August 28, 2009...

Hey guys, it's a rainy Friday night and time for my tunes for the week. This week Katy Perry spends a third week on top and in Vegas, while rock band Cage The Elephant (pictured above) sneaks into the top-10. This week there are thirteen new songs to the chart, as well as the Ting Ting's "That's Not My Name" re-entering...

The highest debut is by Columbian-American singer Shakira. It's amazing that she's been absent for 2 years, when her collaboration with Beyonce, "Beautiful Liar" was hitting it big. Her latest is the sensual "She Wolf", with the craziest girl-howl (and not in a scary way)...

And who could be hotter than Shakira? Madge, that's who. Yes, Madonna's back again with the leadoff single from her greatest hits collection. It's basically a pastiche of every dance hit she's had before, but that's not too bad at all. Here's "Celebration"...

Next up is American dance artist/producer/DJ BT (Bryan Transeau). It's an instrumental track that brings him back to his trance-music roots. Here's "Rose Of Jericho"..

And while we're listening to trance, here's another great trance artist, Kaskade, who pairs with Canadian DJ Deadmau5, who already is climbing my chart with "Attention Whore". Their dreamy collab is "I Remember"...

Next up is Jay Sean, who was born Kamaljit Singh Jhooti in London. The R&B singer of Asian-Indian heritage already has had 6 top-40 hits in the UK, and now spices his cool funk with a Lil Wayne with "Down"...

Punk rock band Rise Against have already been on my chart with songs like the excellent "Re-Eductation (Through Labor)" and "Audience Of One". They set the stage for their upcoming CD with the track "Savior"...

Another rock CD forthcoming is Paramore's latest, and the first single from that is the rockin' "Ignorance"...

British artist Tinchy Stryder, who is in the "grime" (which combines house, island, and hip-hop) genre of dance music, pairs up with Sugababes singer Amelle for the fun "Never Leave You"...

And the biggest anticipated rock album this fall is Pearl Jam's upcoming CD, available at Target...It was striking going there last week and finding the vinyl single of PJ's latest, "The Fixer" there. Big Kudos!!!!

Country singer Chris Young won the singing talent show Nashville Star, and two years later his first truly big country hit emerges - "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)"...

The last two debuts are both foreign language faves of mine. The first is by Collectif Metisse. With members from France, America, North Africa and Reunion Island, the group comes on with the fun-filled summer hit "Lasse-Toi Aller Bebe" (Let's Go Baby)...

And last is Nelly Furtado. A recurrent hitmaker, she previews her latest Spanish language album with "Manos Al Aire" (Hands In The Air)...

I HATE "School Nights"!!!!
