This week nine new songs enter my list, starting with the singer/songwriter Ne-Yo, nee' Shaffer Smith, who has his fourth US top-10 song with the dance track "Closer", which follows the vein that Usher left behind. It's a great distillation of Usher's "Caught Up", actually.

next, Daughtry continues to mine his/their debut album for hit singles, as the seventh track to make either the rock or pop charts comes on here. "What About Now"'s video evokes the same rocker-goes-thoughtful that Van Halen mined with "Right Now"...

Mississippi-bred rock band Saving Abel debuts with "Addicted", for those who are into the Puddle-of-Mudd thing...

Jason Aldean's third single from his second album is the churning title track, "Relentless"...

also on the country tip, post-reality-show country singer Chuck Wicks is back with a dramatically better tune than the treacly "Stealing Cinderella". Here's "All I Ever Wanted"...

The classic Siouxsie & The Banshees song "Cities In Dust" gets a dance makeover by Junkie XL...

Delta Goodrem is a star Down Under, but this Australian chanteuse is still just breaking through in the states, here with the lovely "In This Life"...

Brad Paisley resurrects an album cut from a previous release for his newest single, here's "Waitin' On A Woman"..

Finally, the Pussycat Dolls are back, with the lyrically trite but danceable nonetheless "When I Grow Up"...
