Disco Dessert 8/8/20 - "Last Dance" from Donna Summer...

"Last Dance" was a massive club and radio hit for the "Queen of Disco", the late Donna Summer. Appearing on the soundtrack to the movie Thank God It's Friday, which she starred in, the song was written by Paul Jabara and produced by Giorgio Moroder with Bob Esty. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the soundtrack was listed as one entry, with Donna's "Last Dance", Pattie Brooks' "After Dark", Love And Kisses' "Thank God It's Friday", and "Take It To The Zoo" from Sunshine marked as key cuts. The album spent six weeks at #1 there in 1978, while "Last Dance" would go on to win both an Oscar for Best Original song and a Grammy for Best R&B Female Vocal Performance.
