Songoftheday 5/2/19 - You're my peace of mind in this crazy world, you're everything I tried to find your love is a pearl...

"Beautiful In My Eyes" - Joshua Kadison
from the album Painted Desert Serenade (1993)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #19 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 15

Today's song of the day comes from pop singer/songwriter Joshua Kadison, who had scored his first big hit in the beginning of 1994 with "Jessie". His next single would prove to be his biggest. "Beautiful In My Eyes", written by Kadison and produced by rock mainstays Rod Argent (Argent) and Peter Van Hooke (Mike + The Mechanics), was a schmaltzy ballad in the time when schmaltzy ballad still had a lot of fans...

"Beautiful In My Eyes" became Joshua's second and so-far last top-40 pop hit in America in June of 1994. The song also rose to #4 on Billboard magazine's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. Internationally, the song climbed to #5 in Australia, and was a top-40 hit in New Zealand (#23) and the UK (#37). A third single from the record, "Picture Postcards From L.A.", was a minor hit on the American pop chart at #84, but did go to #16 on the Adult Contemporary list and was a top-40 hit in the Netherlands and Belgium (both at #36).

In 1995, Kadison returned with his sophomore effort Delilah Blue, and while he had a minor hit in Germany with "Take It On Faith" (#76 GER), it was relatively ignored in the States. The same went with his fifth release Vanishing America, where single "Carolina's Eyes" almost made the top-40 in Switzerland at #42. His most recent music, the EP Return Of The Dragonfly, came out in 2008, and he has come out as a bisexual man.
