Songoftheday 11/8/18 - You said you'd always be there you said you'd always care, you always comfort me you used to share things with me...

"Love Don't Love You" - En Vogue
from the album Funky Divas (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #36 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3

Today's song of the day comes from the female soul vocal group En Vogue, whose cornerstone album Funky Divas had already spun off four big pop hits with "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)", "Giving Him Something He Can Feel", "Free Your Mind", and "Give It Up, Turn It Loose", the latter one hitting the top-20 in the beginning of 1993. The fifth and last release from the set would be the uptempo new jack swing session of "Love Don't Love You". Written and produced by their normal team of Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy, it's another sassy tell-off to a unfaithful lover...

"Love Don't Love You" became the fifth top-40 pop hit from Funky Divas in May of 1993. The song did a little better on urban stations and stores, climbing to #31 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. Internationally, the record was a minor hit in the UK at #64.
