Robbed hit of the week 11/26/18 - Mary J. Blige's "Love No Limit"...

"Love No Limit" - Mary J. Blige
from the album What's The 411? (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #44

This week's "robbed hit" comes from R&B/hip-hop singer Mary J. Blige, whose groundbreaking debut album What's The 411? had already spun off three top-40 pop hits with "You Remind Me", her remake of Rufus and Chaka Khan's "Sweet Thing", and the top 10 smash "Real Love", as well as a top ten R&B hit that missed the top-40, "Reminisce". The fifth release from the record would be the mid-tempo quiet storm jam "Love No Limit". Written by Kenneth Greene with producer Dave Hall, the jazz-inflected single was a natural for urban radio stations...

While "Love No Limit" climbed all the way to #5 on BIllboard magazine's R&B chart, spending almost seven months on the list, the single stopped a few notches from the pop Top-40 in June of 1993. Next up came her collaboration with K-Ci Hailey from the group Jodeci, "I Don't Want To Do Anything", which rose to #86 on the R&B chart. Finally, the album track "My Love" climbed to #23 on the American R&B chart and was a top-40 hit in the UK at #29.

I love the original, but the remix version takes it to the next level. One of the best remixes of the 90s for sure.
