Disco Dessert 11/7/18 - "Pretty Maid" from the Pretty Maid Company...

"Pretty Maid" was a bubbly and slight early disco hit for European girl group Pretty Maid Company. The act featured Germans Andrea Andergast and Brigitte Bruning, Biggi Bachmann from the tiny alpine country of Liechtenstein, and Puerto Rican singer Foxy Rosy. Released as a single in 1976, it was a remake of a schlager-style song from Germany singer Tony Marshall (as "Schöne Maid"), which went to #3 in 1971 in his homeland. That record itself was an adaptation of a Tahitian folks song redone by his producer Jack White, with lyrics translated to English from Pete Bellotte, who worked extensively with Donna Summer and co-wrote her hit "Hot Stuff". Pretty Maid Company never reached the charts, but they did also produce a popular cover of ABBA's "Nina, Pretty Ballerina" the following year.
