Disco Dessert 11/16/18 - "Rapture" from Blondie...

"Rapture" was an international hit for punk band turned unlikely disco heroes Blondie, who released the single in 1981. Taken from their album Autoamerican, the song, written by lead singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein, was much of America's introduction to rap music, with Harry name-checking genre pioneers Fab 5 Freddy and Grandmaster Flash. The song went to #1 on Billboard's pop chart in America, while paired with the album's "The Tide Is High" spent four weeks atop their Disco/Dance Track chart together.
