Songoftheday 5/9/18 - It's late at night and neither one of us is sleeping, I can't imagine living my life after you're gone...

"Just Take My Heart" - Mr. Big
from the album Lean Into It (1991)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #16 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11

Today's song of the day comes from the hard rock band Mr. Big, who had gone against the grain and landed a #1 pop hit in the U.S. with the acoustic ballad "To Be With You" in the beginning of 1992. The fourth single released from their Lean Into It album would be another more laid back number, though at least "Just Take My Heart" is a true hard rock song with guitars, drums, and everything. Written by lead singer Eric Martin with Andre Pessis, the single continued the sound that had mainstream radio calling...

"Just Take My Heart" became Mr. Big's second top-40 pop hit in America in June of 1992. The song also climbed to #18 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart, the highest rank of their career (and upping "To Be With You" by one notch). Internationally, the record was also a success, reaching the top-40 in Canada (#16), the Netherlands (#17), Ireland (#18), Switzerland (#20), the UK (#26), Belgium (#26), Australia (#27), Germany (#29), Sweden (#35), and New Zealand (#40).
