German Sweep: March 22, 2017...


Here's the top ten hits in Germany this week, according to their official singles chart, as Ed Sheeran takes a tenth week at #1...

3. "Tuesday" - Burak Yeter featuring Danelle Sandoval (6)
4. "Something Just Like This" - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay (4)
5. "Galway Girl" - Ed Sheeran (8)
6. "You Don't Know Me" - Jax Jones featuring RAYE (DEBUT)
7. "Castle On The Hill" - Ed Sheeran (3)
8. "Chained To The Rhythm" - Katy Perry featuring Skip Marley (7)
9. "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" - Zayn & Taylor Swift (5)
10. "Paris" - The Chainsmokers (9)

British DJ/producer Jax Jones climbs into the top ten with "You Don't Know Me" featuring singer RAYE. Jones previously was a featured artist on Duke Dumont's "I Got U", which went to #22 in this country, while RAYE just missed the top-40 at #45 as the singer on Jonas Blue's "By Your Side"...

Berlin-based hip-hop duo SDP (for "stone deaf production") slip into the top-40 with "So schön kaputt" ("So Beautifully Broken"). It's their first to make the chart...


Meanwhile, on the albums chart in Germany, Sheeran's Divide album stays put at #1 for a second week...

SDP's album, Die bunte Seite der Macht ("The Colorful Side of Power"), enters the chart at #2. It's their third consecutive top ten album...


 To commemorate their 30th anniverary reunion concert, Fury In The Slaughterhouse, a rock band from Hanover, sees their compilation 30 - The Best Of Collection come in at #3. Prior to this, they had placed four albums in the top ten in their career, with Brilliant Thieves also going to #3 in 1997...


Actress/singer Yvonne Catterfeld, from the city of Erfurt in the Thuringia region in central Germany, returns at #4 with Guten Morgen Freiheit ("Good Morning Freedom"). A judge on that country's version of The Voice, six of Yvonne's seven albums have reached the top ten, with her debut Meine Welt and her third Unterwegs going all the way to #1...


Due to the new inclusion of a live CD/DVD, rock artist Peter Maffay, a Romanian-born German who had a #1 album way back in 1970 with Du, comes back into the top-10 at #5 with Tabaluga - Es Liebe Die Freundschaft! ("Long Live The Friendship"). It's the soundtrack to the long-running animated dragon Tabaluga which he created. The album originally topped the chart back in November of 2015...


Berlin rock group Staubkind roll in at #8 with their fifth studio album An jedem einzelnen Tag ("On Every Single Day"). It matches the peak of their last album Alles was ich bin from 2014...


Swiss pop-schlager singer Beatrice Egli, who won Germany's version of Pop Idol in 2013, sees her album Kick Im Augenblick ("Kick Right Now") leap back up the chart to #9, also courtesy of a deluxe addition...
