German Sweep: March 1, 2017...


Here's the top ten hits in Germany this week, according to their official singles chart, as Ed Sheeran racks up a seventh week at #1...

1. "Shape Of You" - Ed Sheeran (1)
2. "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" - Zayn & Taylor Swift (2)
3. "It Ain't Me" - Kygo featuring Selena Gomez (DEBUT)
4. "Paris" - The Chainsmokers (3)
5. "Castle On The Hill" - Ed Sheeran (4)
6. "Loin" - Maître Gims featuring Dany Synthé (9)
7. "Way Down We Go" - Kaleo (6)
8. "Rockabye" - Clean Bandit featuring Anne-Marie & Sean Paul (5)
9. "Scared To Be Lonely" - Martin Garrix featuring Dua Lipa (10)
10. "Call On Me" - Starley (7)

Norwegian DJ/producer Kygo rolls on to the entire chart up at #3 with his new single "It Ain't Me" featuring Selena Gomez. It's his third top ten hit here - he went to #2 with "Stole The Show" in 2015, while it's Selena's first time at this level in this country...

Further down the chart, rapper Zuna, from Dresden, scores his first top-40 hit with "Cazal" featuring Miami Yacine at #20...


Another hip-hop artist, Kontra K from Berlin, lands at #28 with "Diamanten" ("Diamonds")...


Meanwhile, on the albums chart in Germany, pop singer Philipp Poisel, from the southern city of Ludwigsberg, claims the top spot in his first week with Mein Amerika (My America). It's his second #1 album after his live set Projekt Seerosenteich in 2012...


Scottish folk-rock artist Amy Macdonald returns in the #2 position with her fourth studio album Under Stars. All four have reached the top-3, with the two before this, A Curious Thing in 2010 and Life In A Beautiful Light in 2012, going all the way to the top...


 The late Austrian pop star Falco, or "Rock Me Amadeus" fame, would've been 60 this year, and a new retrospective, Falco 60, arrives at #3. It becomes his 8th top ten album; Emotional went to #1 back in 1986...


Goth synthpop act Blutengel ("Bloodangel") are back at #4 with Leitbild ("Mission")...


Iranian-born rapper Kianush, who grew up in the western city of Münster, wins his first top ten rank at #7 with Instinkt...


 Bilderbuch ("Picture Book"), an alternative rock group from Austria, also get into the top ten for the first time with Magic Life...
