Brit Sweep: February 11, 2017...


Let's cross the Atlantic yet again to check out the notable singles and albums making the charts in the UK this week...

On the official singles chart in Britain, Ed Sheeran reigns at both #1 and #2 for the fifth straight week with "Shape Of You" and "Castle On The Hill"...

London "grime" rapper Stormzy scores his second top-10 hit as his "Big For Your Boots" matches the rank his "Shut Up" peaked at last year...

American modern rock band Imagine Dragons just miss the top 40 as they enter at #42 with "Believers". It's the first single from their upcoming third album. They've yet to hit the top-10, though they've had songs reach #11 ("Sucker For Pain"), #12, and #13...


The upcoming Beauty and the Beast live-action film comes out in a month, but already the duet between Ariana Grande and John Legend from the title song enters at #52. In the movie itself Emma Watson plays Belle and Dan Stevens does the Beast...


American rapper Big Sean arrives on the singles chart with two tracks from his new I Decided album; at #56 is "No Favors" featuring Eminem...


...while the official first radio single "Bounce Back" moves in at #67...


Swedish DJ/producer Alesso dances in at #72 with "Falling". In 2013 he topped the chart along with Calvin Harris and Hurts with "Under Control"...


One rung under that at #73 is trip-hop act London Grammar with "Big Picture". It's the second chart hit from their upcoming second album; the first, "Rooting For You", went to #58...


Electro-soul singer/songwriter Sampha comes in at #92 with "(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano". ..


Alternative rockers Elbow are back at #97 with "Magnificent (She Says)"...


That song comes from the band's Little Fictions release, which tops the albums chart in the UK in its first week. It's their second consecutive #1 album after The Take Off and Landing of Everything in 2014...


The Black Star Riders, a side project for the veteran rock band Thin Lizzy, drive in at #8 with their third studio album under the moniker, Heavy Fire. After the death of Phil Lynott, the group has been led by guitarist Scott Gorham...


The aforementioned Sampha also enters the chart way up at #7 with Process, his debut full-length effort...


Lower Than Atlantis, an alternative rock group from Watford, sink in at #8 with their fifth album and first to reach the top ten, Safe In Sound...


While rapper Big Sean sends two songs to the singles chart, his new album I Decided climbs in at #12, his highest rank on the albums chart yet...
