German Sweep: January 18, 2017...


Here's the top ten hits in Germany this week, according to their official singles chart, as British ex-busker Ed Sheeran takes over the top two spots...

7. "Shed A Light" - Robin Schulz & David Guetta featuring Cheat Codes (6)
8. "Starboy" - The Weeknd featuring Daft Punk (5)
9. "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" - Zayn & Taylor Swift (DEBUT)
10. "Bad Ideas" - Alle Farben (7)

As in France, Sheeran lands his first #1 single in this country with "Shape Of You", one of two songs from his forthcoming album ÷ that jumps on to the chart...

The other one of Ed's newbies, "Castle On The Hill", sets in at #2, becoming his ninth top-ten hit in Germany...


The new song from the film Fifty Shades Darker (the sequel to Fifty Shades Of Grey) comes from pop powerhouses Zayn (from One Direction) and Taylor freaking Swift on "I Don't Wanna Live Forever", which whips in at #9. It's Zayn's second top ten entry (he went to #5 with his solo debut "Pillowtalk"), while Swiftie has reached this level four times now, with "Shake It Off" peaking at #5 as well...


Further down the chart, Pietro Lombardi from Baden, who won the eighth season of this country's version of the Pop Idol franchise in 2011, lands just outside the top ten at #12 with "Mein Herz" ("My Heart")...


Danish DJ/producer Martin Jensen enters the top-40 at #33 with "Solo Dance". The track has already reached the top ten in Sweden, Norway, and his homeland...


German indie-folk duo Milky Chance return at #35 with "Cocoon". The pair's international smash "Stolen Dance" went to #2 here in 2013...


Stereoact claim their second top-40 hit with "Nummer Eins" ("Number One") at #40 (for now). Chris Cronauer sings on the track...


Meanwhile, on the albums chart in Germany, the collaboration of schlager music stars Jan Smit, Florian Silbereisen, and Christoff, under the moniker Klubbb3, sees their second release Jetzt Geht's Richtig Los! ("Let's Go") top the list this week...


Punk/metal band KrawallBrüder ("Riot Brothers") storm in at #2 with Mehr Hass ("More Hate"). It's their fourth consecutive top ten album...


Boston heroes Dropkick Murphys score their highest-charting album in this country with 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory at #3...
