German Sweep: October 19, 2016...


Here's the top ten hits in Germany this week, according to their official singles chart, as Rag N' Bone man racks up a third week on top...

2. "Closer" - The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey (3)
3. "Let Me Love You" - DJ Snake featuring Justin Bieber (2)
4. "The Greatest" - Sia featuring Kendrick Lamar (4)
5. "The Sound Of Silence" - Disturbed (5)
6. "My Way" - Calvin Harris (10)
7. "Holz" - 257ers (7)
8. "Starboy" - The Weeknd featuring Daft Punk (DEBUT)
9. "Heathens" - twenty-one pilots (9)
10. "Ohne Mein Team" - Bonez MC & RAF Camora featuring Maxwell (RE-ENTRY)

Canadian pop and R&B wunderkind The Weeknd is back at #8 with "Starboy" featuring French electrodance duo Daft Punk. It becomes his second top-10 hit in this country and highest rank (he took "The Hills" to #10)...

Further down the chart, pop singer/songwriter Tim Bendzko, from Berlin, climbs into the top-40 at #31 with "Keine Maschine" ("No machine"). His debut single, "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten", went to #2 here in 2011...



Meanwhile, on the albums chart in Germany, nine of the top ten albums are new entries, including the #1 spot now held by Sportfreunde Stiller, who land their third #1 album with Sturm & Stille ("Storm and Stillness"). American pop-punk heroes Green Day arrive at #2 with Revolution Radio. They topped the albums list in this country once so far, in 2009 with 21st Century Breakdown...


Jazz-pop singer/songwriter Norah Jones is back at #3 with Day Breaks. She had back-to-back #1 sets in the mid-2000s with Feels Like Home and Not Too Late...


Fard, an Iranian-born rapper from the western city of Gladbeck, moves in at #4 with Bei Fame Hort Freundschaft Auf ("Friendship Ceases With Fame"). It's his fourth top-10 album in as many years...


Hard rock band Alter Bridge cross over to #5 with The Last Hero, their fifth release, and highest charting album as yet...


American pop/rock hitmakers OneRepublic return at #6 with Oh My My. It's their third top ten album out of four releases...


German tenor Jonas Kaufmann, from Munich, strolls in at #7 with Dolce Vita. It's his second trip to the top ten...


Canadian pop-punk band Sum 41 now have two top-10 records as 13 Voices enters at #9...


British indie-rock band Placebo take the #10 spot with their retrospective A Place For Us To Dream - 20 Years Of Placebo...
