Robbed hit of the week 7/4/16 - Kenny G and Smokey Robinson's "We've Saved The Best For Last"...

"We've Saved The Best For Last" - Kenny G
from the album Silhouette (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #47

This week's 'robbed hit' comes from lite-jazz giant Kenny G, whose 1988 album Silhouette returned the saxophone player to the top-20 on the pop chart with the instrumental title track.  The second single from the set was the adult R&B of "We've Saved The Best For Last", with vocals from Motown legend Smokey Robinson, who had just seen a comeback of his own with his One Heartbeat album which sported two top-10 pop hits...

While "We've Saved The Best For Last" went as high as #4 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening" chart, and #18 on their R&B list, the single stopped short at just over the halfway mark on the pop Hot 100 in March of 1989.
