Brit Sweep: July 30, 2016...






Let's cross the Atlantic one more time to check out the new singles and albums hitting the charts in the UK this week, as finally there's a change at the top...

On the singles chart, there's some good news and some well, eh news. After a laborious fifteen weeks at #1, Drake's "One Dance" finally drops (and does it, to #5). Taking its place, though - is The Biebs. Yes Justin Bieber as well as Danish singer MO join alt-dance act Major Lazer for "Cold Water". The first single from their upcoming album Music Is The Weapon is Major Lazer's first #1 in the UK...

London dance act Tieks and singer Dan Harkna come in at #70 with "Sunshine"...


French DJ/producer Martin Solveig enters at #97 with "Do It Right" featuring Zimbabwe-born Australian singer/rapper Tkay Maidza...


Meanwhile, on the albums chart in Britain, ELO (the Electric Light Orchestra) leap to #1 with All Over The World -- The Very Best Of  in its 117th week on the chart. The English band's only other #1 album in their homeland was the soundtrack to Xanadu with Olivia Newton-John...

London-based alternative rock band Bear's Den growls in at #6 with their sophomore effort Red Earth & Pouring Rain...

American progressive metal band Periphery take their Periphery 3 - Select Difficulty set to #57. Last year they almost made the top-40 at #43 with Juggernaut: Alpha...
